Mark Fletcher wrote what is understood to be the first newsagency software in Australia in the early 19801. The Newsagency Accounts Processing system as it was then called helped newsagents to calculate newspaper homer delivery accounts, sub agent accounts and well as to promote the run lists for the delivery of newspapers. This was before Tower Systems had been created, when Mark was a sole trader.
Developed based on personal experience working in a newsagency some years early, the NAPS software developed by Mark Fletcher in the basic and TAS languages and platforms twenty years ago has formed the basis for the newsagency software that is sold by Tower Systems today.
Thanks to support from newspaper publishers in Victoria in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the newsagency software developed initially by Mark Fletcher quickly became the most widely adopted.
